It all started with her first birthday.
Two years ago, I took these portraits of my baby girl turning one years old. Back then, my husband had recently undergone emergency back surgery and was forced to retire with the US Army. With very little budget, I decided to try taking her birthday portraits myself. They may not be the most professional looking to some, but they are still my most prized portraits taken!
From that day on, I started teaching myself everything I needed to know about photography. I've taken numerous online courses, followed several photographers who capture beautiful portraits, joined every photography Facebook group, signed up for numerous blogs, newsletters, and webinars, and reached out to other local photographers. I've also learned from my uncle, Carl Stoveland of Artistic Balance, who is still my biggest supporter, mentor, and idol in the photography field. I love learning something new every day and I am still learning as my photography style grows.
Over the past two years, I've captured 35 families, 32 children, and 20 newborns. And I can't wait to capture more!
I owe everything to my husband, who has supported me and pushed me to continue to grow and to look for the light at the end of the tunnel. Without him, I'm pretty sure I would've given up after just 6 months.
My goal with photography is to create portraits that families can look at in their home every single day. A work of art such as a canvas or an album that makes them smile every time they walk by it. To create portraits that are beautiful, natural, and timeless.
This is my photography journey, but not only that, it's the lives of all the families, children, and newborns I've met along the way.
I hope you'll keep stopping by from time to time to read about all these journeys. I really appreciate you taking the time out of your day to read about my story. Leave me a comment below!
