My son is a history buff at age 10. Ever since he learned about the Civil War in 4th grade and then hearing that some of it happened within 30 minutes of where we live, he's wanted to visit places every single weekend. So when I was contacted by a mom who wanted family pictures of some place that spoke about the area's history, but not wanting to go into D.C., I knew Battlefield Manassas was the perfect spot!
If you've never been, it has incredible views from on top of a hill lined with fences that really showcase the Civil War era. Tall trees and fields of tall grasses fill the area as well, which is perfect for any type of session. A civil war cannon and carriages? Yes please!
The last time this family had portraits taken was when the youngest boys were only 5 years old. Ten years later, we were able to capture these handsome young men and their GQ smiles.
As a military family constantly moving around the United States, this family wanted something a little more traditional to showcase their portraits in their home, like a framed wall art. That way if it was ever damaged during transport, it could easily be reframed. An example of a cozy little spot with their family portrait in front of the tree.
Then in their living room, using some of the other portraits, I was able to come up with another idea for them to really show them off.
Family sessions are a great way to update a family portrait in your home. Our kids grow up so quickly and before you know it, like this family, one is going away to college. Now these parents get to look at these beautiful portraits in their home every single day!
